Będzin bank employees prevent 80,000 PLN loan scam

Bank employees in Będzin, Poland, prevented a 77-year-old woman from falling victim to a telephone scam. The woman arrived at a bank branch intending to take out an 80,000 PLN loan to transfer the funds to an unknown individual she was communicating with via phone.

Noticing the woman's agitated state, bank staff alerted the police. Officers arrived and determined that an unknown man was instructing the woman to secure the loan and immediately transfer the money. Police successfully convinced the woman that she was being targeted by a fraudster, preventing her from signing the agreement.

By intervening, the staff and police saved the woman from losing 80,000 PLN and from a long-term debt with monthly installments totaling nearly 4,000 PLN. The woman has since filed a report and is cooperating with authorities as a witness.
