BEAMS celebrates 50th anniversary with iconic bag reissue and PUMA collaboration
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Japanese select shop BEAMS is reissuing its iconic orange shoulder-strap shopping bag in a limited quantity. Originally launched in 1986 during the brand's 10th anniversary, the bag became a cultural staple for students and fashion enthusiasts. While the original plastic version was discontinued in 2021 to reduce single-use waste, the reissue utilizes sustainable biomass plastic made from over 80% plant-derived corn molasses.
In a separate fashion announcement, the BEAMS BOY label has announced a collaboration with PUMA. The special edition PUMA Suede sneakers, priced at 15,400 yen, are scheduled for release on October 23. The design features black suede and includes five sets of interchangeable shoelaces representing different style categories: basic, sport, outdoor, military, and work.
