Bear biology: Lifespan and running capabilities

Bears exhibit varying lifespans depending on their species and living conditions. In the wild, bears typically live between 20 and 30 years. However, those in captivity with access to consistent nutrition and medical care often exceed 30 years, with some reaching 40 or more.

Regarding physical capabilities, bears are capable of reaching speeds of up to 35 mph. While they possess powerful muscles in their legs and shoulders for explosive movement, they are built for strength rather than endurance. Consequently, they can only maintain high-speed sprints for a few seconds rather than for extended periods.
