Bear Encounter Near Hikers on Mount Tara, Serbia
A group of hikers on Mount Tara in western Serbia filmed a bear moving through tall grass and shrubs. The animal paused, lifted its head, noticed the people, turned and fled back into the forest without any incident.
Authorities stress that bears generally avoid humans and recommend staying calm, moving away slowly without turning the back, and speaking in a calm voice. Running or sudden movements may provoke a defensive response. The encounter follows a similar sighting a month earlier involving a mother and her three‑year‑old child on the same mountain.
Mount Tara is a known habitat for bears, and such encounters, while startling, typically end without harm when proper precautions are followed.
