Bear removal in Brașov, Romania after urban sightings

The municipal wildlife monitoring team in Brașov intervened on Jepilor Street after several reports of bears in the city. Field checks revealed a mother bear with two cubs, another with three cubs, and an 11‑year‑old female bear without offspring.

The adult female did not respond to acoustic deterrents and remained near the residential area, prompting authorities to extract the animal. Officials said the decision followed strict protocols that allow the use of firearms when non‑lethal measures fail, aiming to protect public safety.
