Bear Yavor transferred to Belitsa Bear Park after 14 years in captivity
Yavor, a 22-year-old bear, has been successfully transferred from the Lovech Zoo to the Four Paws Bear Park near Belitsa. This move follows 14 years of living in narrow concrete enclosures.
Before the relocation, veterinarians conducted a medical examination at the Lovech Zoo, including blood tests and skin and teeth inspections, to ensure the bear was healthy enough for transport. Yavor was transported using a specialized bear ambulance provided by the Four Paws organization.
Upon arrival in the Rila mountains, Yavor was placed in a three-decare quarantine sector equipped with a pool and an artificial den. Park manager Nikola Popkostadinov reported that the bear is behaving calmly and eating well. Veterinary staff and park keepers will monitor his health and assist his gradual adaptation to the new natural environment.
