Authorities in Romania have issued alerts following several bear sightings and an attack in the regions of Bistrița-Năsăud and Argeș.
In Bistrița-Năsăud, a bear was spotted near the village of Mihăiești, approximately 200 meters from residential homes and close to the municipality of Dej. Residents received RO-ALERT messages, and Gendarmerie crews were deployed to monitor the animal and ensure public safety. The sighting has raised concerns as the area is located a significant distance from the Călimani and Rodnei mountain ranges.
In Argeș County, a man in the commune of Șuici was injured in a bear attack, sustaining wounds to his left forearm. SMURD paramedics provided medical assistance before transporting him to a hospital.
