Beastars to premiere on Animal Planet Japan

Animal Planet Japan will broadcast the anime series ‘Beastars’, marking the first time the channel has aired a Japanese animation production. The series, based on the manga by Paru Itagaki, is scheduled to premiere in Japan on October 15, 2026.

Set in a society of anthropomorphic animals, the story follows Legoshi, a gray wolf navigating life in an academy while managing his predatory instincts. The narrative explores themes of social discrimination, prejudice, and the tension between instinct and societal norms as herbivores and carnivores attempt to coexist.

Episodes will air on Thursdays, with scheduled repeats during weekends and Monday early mornings. While the series previously gained popularity on streaming platforms, this move marks its return to traditional television. Currently, the broadcast is confirmed only for Animal Planet in Japan; no release dates have been announced for Mexico, Latin America, or other regions.
