Brazil wins overall title at Judo Grand Prix in Peru
Brazil has secured the overall championship title at the 2026 Grand Prix in Lima, Peru, following a dominant performance in the judo competition. The Brazilian delegation earned a total of 11 medals, consisting of five golds, two silvers, and four bronzes, marking their best performance of the year.
Key victories included Olympic champion Beatriz Souza, who won gold in the 78 kg category by defeating Italy’s Asya Tavano with an ippon. Rafael Macedo also secured gold in the under 90 kg category after defeating Moldova’s Mihail Latisev. Other gold medalists included Michel Augusto (under 60 kg), Rafaela Rodrigues (52 kg), and David Lima (81 kg).
Italy finished in second place with two golds, two silvers, and four bronzes, while Moldova took third with two golds, two silvers, and one bronze.
