Beauty experts share tips on concealer shades and lipstick longevity
Beauty experts provide guidance on selecting and applying makeup products to achieve specific cosmetic results.
Regarding concealer, Bernisia Boateng of Estée Lauder suggests that for covering blemishes or pigmentation, the shade should closely match the natural skin tone and foundation. Conversely, to brighten the face or address dark circles under the eyes, a shade one to two tones lighter than the skin is recommended to add dimension and light. Bobbi Brown, founder of Jones Road, warns that using a concealer that is too light for blemishes can inadvertently highlight them.
For lip color longevity, lipstick fixatives are highlighted as a tool to extend wear and reduce smudging. These products, which come in liquid or spray forms, help pigment adhere to the lips. Experts note that effective application requires proper lip preparation, such as exfoliation and removing excess balm, to ensure the fixative and lipstick perform optimally.
