Beauvais court hears domestic violence case involving decade of abuse

Christian Jean-Louis, 59, appeared before the Beauvais criminal court on September 17 to face charges regarding a decade of domestic violence against his wife in Mouy. The investigation was triggered by a complaint following an incident in September 2023, where the victim alleged the defendant physically assaulted her and threatened her after accusing her of infidelity.

The victim testified to a long history of abuse spanning from 2013 to 2023, including physical violence, verbal insults, and psychological control. She described being subjected to constant surveillance through webcams and monitoring of her movements. While the defendant denies many of the allegations, the victim stated that the recent escalation served as a breaking point after years of being isolated and controlled.
