Beaver Valley Nitehawks prepare for transition to Junior A league

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks are preparing for a transition to the BC Hockey Conference (BCHC), a newly sanctioned 22-team Junior A league. As part of the new six-team Kootenay Division, the team will move from a 44-game schedule in the KIJHL to a 50-game schedule.

Head coach and GM Terry Jones noted that the team will feature several returning players, including defensemen Ryan Neufeld, Vance Amyotte, and Nathan Planger, as well as forwards Brock Robertson and Ayden Probe. The roster has also been bolstered by additions from the Castlegar Rebels, including Niklaas Braaksma, Julian Knelson, and Deegan Kyle.

Main camp is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 4, at the B.V. Arena, where 40 players will compete for spots on the lineup. Jones indicated that despite the league change, the recruitment process remains focused on finding players from British Columbia and Alberta who possess the necessary work ethic and values.
