Prabowo Subianto pledges free education and highlights energy independence

During the 28th anniversary of the National Mandate Party (PAN), President Prabowo Subianto outlined several key national priorities. He announced plans to implement free public education, spanning from elementary school through state universities, proposing that funding could be sourced from recovered assets from corruption cases.

Addressing national security and independence, Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia has achieved food self-sufficiency. He also noted that as of July 1, 2026, the country has ceased importing diesel, instead utilizing B50 biosolar produced from palm oil. He described palm oil as a ‘miracle plant’ capable of producing 57 different derivatives, including fuel and medicine.

On the political front, PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan expressed the party's willingness to support a 5 percent parliamentary threshold, provided there is a unanimous consensus among coalition parties. Prabowo also issued a warning regarding democracy, stating that large economic interests could attempt to hijack the political system by bribing officials, including judges, prosecutors, and military leaders.
