Bełchatów adopts new strategic General Plan for urban development

The Bełchatów City Council has officially adopted the city’s new General Plan following a two-year development process. This strategic document, introduced due to changes in spatial planning and development laws, will replace the existing study of conditions and directions of land use.

The General Plan will serve as the foundation for creating new local spatial development plans and issuing building conditions. It defines 13 distinct planning zones, including municipal urban standards and areas for urban infill. According to co-author Łukasz Bień, the plan does not restrict the development of existing building plots but rather expands possibilities for residential construction, including both single-family and multi-family housing, while adding new economic and service zones.

City officials noted that Bełchatów is among the few Polish cities to have completed such plans ahead of the August deadline. The document aims to provide stability for residents and clarity for investors regarding where construction is permitted and where land should remain undeveloped.
