Beckeln Round Bale Press Fire Extinguished by German Firefighters
On Sunday evening at about 20:00, a round bale press caught fire while a farmer was harvesting in Hackfeld, Beckeln, Germany. The farmer saw flames and smoke from the press and immediately called the fire service. Firefighters from Beckeln, Colnrade and Wildeshausen were dispatched, with roughly 50 personnel on scene. The blaze involved the press and several bales spread across the field, requiring additional water supplies and a tank fire‑engine from Wildeshausen. Press spokesman Jannik Stiller of Kreisfeuerwehr Oldenburg explained that water sources are often distant for such field fires, prompting generous alarm of water‑carrying units. The fire was brought under control after about one and a half hours, preventing further spread.
