Becky G addresses double standards in new album

Singer Becky G has addressed the double standards regarding female sexuality and identity following the release of her fifth studio album, ‘Baraja Bendita’. In recent interviews, the Mexican-American artist discussed the contradictions within the music industry and the Latina community regarding how women express themselves.

Becky G questioned why society often accepts the concept of a woman being a “lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets” but criticizes women when they speak openly about their desires. She noted that while she loves Latina women, there is often a societal pressure that dictates how they should dress, behave, and speak, effectively limiting their self-expression.

The new album, released on August 14, represents a more personal and vulnerable era for the artist. It incorporates house music, electronic sounds, and rap, reflecting her evolution as an adult woman. She stated that the music is no longer just about women in general, but rather her own personal experiences and identity.
