Bedford Borough Council investigates child's pretend teddy bear cafe

A planning department official from Bedford Borough Council visited the home of YouTube pianist Brendan Kavanagh, known as Dr K, to investigate a complaint regarding an “illegal cafe.”

The investigation concerned a pretend teddy bear cafe set up by Kavanagh’s 12-year-old daughter, which featured stuffed animals, toy tea sets, play money, and handwritten price signs within the family property. Kavanagh filmed the encounter, noting that the official arrived following threatening letters from the council regarding alleged illegal trading.

Kavanagh stated that no actual commercial trading was occurring and that the setup was merely a child's game. He criticized the official for appearing to have little prior knowledge of the situation before conducting the home visit.
