Bedfordshire County Cricket League title race intensifies
The Bedfordshire County Cricket League Premier Division title race is intensifying as the top three teams secured victories on Sunday, August 16. Queen’s Park Westfield maintains an 18-point lead at the top of the table following a 105-run win against Ickwell. Zahid Ali Khan led Westfield with an unbeaten 69, contributing to a total of 247/9.
Bedford also secured maximum points with a victory over a depleted Flitwick side. Vedant Somal took five wickets, while Rohan Mehmi scored 65 to help Bedford reach their target within 22 overs. Luton Town and the Indians also recorded wins, though they earned fewer bonus points than the leaders.
At the bottom of the division, Biddenham faces significant relegation pressure after an 86-run loss to Lutonian. Lutonian posted 265/7, driven by Abdul Asad’s 61, before dismissing Biddenham for 179. The result provides relief for Lutonian regarding relegation concerns while leaving Biddenham at the bottom of the standings.
