Pino Daniele tribute lights up Salerno’s Marina d’Arechi as gelato trends surge in Italy
A candle‑lit tribute to the late Neapolitan singer‑songwriter Pino Daniele opened the summer season at Marina d’Arechi in Salerno. The event, organized by La Terrazza and Poniente, featured live performances by Mariano Onorato (voice, guitar) and Casimiro Erario (keyboards) under the artistic direction of Maestro Tiziano Citro, and was accompanied by a fine‑dining menu crafted by chef Gabriele Martinelli.
In parallel, Italy’s gelato sector is seeing strong artisan growth, especially in Liguria where 390 laboratories operate, 71 % of them artisan, and families spent €46 million on gelato in 2024. Classic flavours such as fiordilatte, chocolate, pistachio and stracciatella remain dominant, while innovative offerings like the fruit‑laden Franui and regional‑ingredient creations (e.g., ricotta from Val d’Aveto, orange zest) attract younger consumers.
Other summer culinary highlights include Bedin dal 1862’s seasonal “Profumo di Portofino” pizza, which blends smoked provola, fresh lemon, basil DOP and toasted pine nuts, and the Three Brothers fragrance collection (Turco, Angioino, Caboto) that captures the scent of Gaeta’s Mediterranean landscape. Together, these events and product launches illustrate Italy’s vibrant cultural and gastronomic scene this summer.
