Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu exhibition concludes in Bursa
The “Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Yaşıyor” exhibition, organized by Nilüfer Municipality, has concluded in Bursa. The exhibition, which opened on June 12, was held simultaneously at the Nilüfer Municipality Literature Gallery and the Nâzım Hikmet Cultural Center.
The event ended with a discussion titled “The Life and Art of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu.” The discussion featured curator and Professor Dr. Aydın Ayan, who was also the artist’s last assistant, and was moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Meryem Uzunoğlu. The exhibition showcased the artist’s paintings, poems, and archival documents.
During the event, speakers highlighted Eyüboğlu’s significance in early Republican-era art and his ability to bridge Western plastic art values with Anatolian folk traditions, including kilim, tile, and folk songs. Prof. Dr. Aydın Ayan noted a symbolic coincidence in the selection process: the exhibition features 64 works, matching the age at which Eyüboğlu passed away.
