Bedriye Karaçay’s body found in Sarıyer forest after disappearance
Bedriye Karaçay, a 27‑year‑old mother of three, went missing in Istanbul’s Kağıthane district on 21 July after a reported argument with her husband Volkan Karaçay. She was last seen entering a taxi on Güzeldere Caddesi and could not be contacted afterward, prompting her family to file a missing‑person report.
Police investigations traced her route to the forested area of Ayazağa Yeşiltepe in Sarıyer. Four days after the disappearance, officers located her dead body there. The autopsy confirmed homicide. Volkan Karaçay and his brother Gökhan Karaçay were arrested; Volkan later confessed to strangling his wife, wrapping the body in a blanket, and transporting it by taxi to the forest for burial. A funeral was held at Yeni Ayazağa Cemetery.
