Bedrock Robotics raises $600 million in Series C funding

Bedrock Robotics, a San Francisco-based startup specializing in autonomous construction equipment, has raised $600 million in a Series C funding round. The investment, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital, brings the company’s total funding to nearly $1 billion since its founding in 2024. The new round values the company at approximately $4.1 billion.

The startup develops a retrofit autonomy kit, known as the Bedrock Operator, which can be attached to existing excavators in the 20 to 80-ton range. This allows construction firms to automate heavy machinery without purchasing entirely new vehicles. The company recently transitioned from pilot programs to commercial deployment, with autonomous excavators currently performing work without human operators at sites in Nevada, Texas, and on a large-scale civil project with Zachry Construction.

Founded by robotics and autonomous vehicle veterans, including former Waymo executives Boris Sofman, Kevin Peterson, and Ajay Gummalla, Bedrock aims to address labor shortages in the construction industry. The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its field infrastructure, grow its teams, and deploy its technology to more construction sites across the Midwest and South Atlantic regions.
