Beefeater restaurant chain to close all UK sites by 2026

Whitbread has confirmed that its Beefeater restaurant chain will close all its UK sites by September 10, 2026. The decision is part of a major restructuring plan and a new five-year growth strategy aimed at transforming Whitbread into a higher-margin, pure-play hotel business. The overhaul seeks to reduce costs by £250 million and shift toward an integrated food and drink model better suited to Premier Inn guests.

The closures are expected to impact thousands of jobs. Customers have been notified via the Beefeater reward club that the loyalty scheme will close on August 31, 2026. Members must convert accumulated points into vouchers by that date, as the deadline for collecting receipt details passed on August 24, 2026.
