Beerschot signs midfielder Mats Rits on three-year deal
Mats Rits has signed a three-season contract with Beerschot, returning to the club where he began his professional career. The 33-year-old midfielder joins the Challenger Pro League side following the conclusion of his tenure at RSC Anderlecht.
Rits, who debuted for Beerschot at age 16, brings extensive experience to the club, having played for Ajax, KV Mechelen, and Club Brugge. During his time at Club Brugge, he secured three league titles and two Belgian Supercups, alongside appearances in the Champions League.
Beerschot's sporting director, Murat Akins, noted that Rits's career and high-level European experience speak for themselves. Rits expressed a desire to give back to the club and its supporters, marking a homecoming to the Kiel stadium.
