Beerschot supporters attack KV Mechelen fan bus in Geel-West

A group of Beerschot supporters attacked a bus carrying approximately 80 KV Mechelen fans at a carpool parking lot on the E313 highway in Geel-West on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7:15 PM while the Mechelen bus was stopped for fuel on its way to a match against Lommel SK. At the same time, Beerschot supporters were returning from a game in Hasselt.

During the confrontation, attackers reportedly threw beer bottles at the vehicle, causing damage to a side window and a rear window. The rear license plate was also stolen. No injuries were reported, and the Mechelen supporters were able to continue their journey after securing a replacement license plate.

Beerschot has issued an official statement condemning the violence, stating that such incidents have no place within their club or supporter community. The club has pledged full cooperation with police investigations, which are currently utilizing witness testimonies and camera footage to identify those involved.
