Beethoven commemorations announced by musical institutions in France and Luxembourg

European musical institutions are preparing extensive programs to honor the upcoming bicentenary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death in 2027.

In France, Marseille Concerts featured pianist Juliana Steinbach in a recital centered on Beethoven’s works in C minor. Her performance included the 32 Variations in C minor, the Waldstein Sonata, and the final Sonata, Opus 111. The program also included a piece by Villa-Lobos.

In Luxembourg, the Philharmonie Luxembourg has announced a major multi-season project dedicated to the composer. The initiative includes 21 concerts spanning his various creative periods, featuring his complete string quartet works and all his symphonies. The series will showcase a wide range of compositions, including sonatas, the Triple Concerto, and the Missa solemnis.
