Beethoven for Three series features Eroica Symphony arrangements

The latest installment of the ‘Beethoven for Three’ series, released via Sony Classical, features arrangements of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 ‘Eroica’ and Leonore Overture No. 3. The project, arranged by Shai Wosner, aims to present iconic symphonies through small-group arrangements to reveal the composer’s musical language in an intimate setting.

In this fifth volume, the original trio of Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yo-Yo Ma is joined by violist Antoine Tamestit, expanding the ensemble into a piano quartet. The recording is noted for its rhythmic energy and the textural detail provided by Ax’s piano playing.
