Begu Ganjang horror film enters production in Indonesia

The horror mystery film ‘Begu Ganjang’ is entering production in October 2026. Produced by Delapan Entertainment Studios and directed by Arwin Tri Wardhana, the film adapts a novel by ophthalmologist dr. Ferdiriva Hamzah.

The story is a medical horror mystery set in North Sumatra, blending Batak folklore with modern medicine. It follows Tobias, a young doctor who attempts to explain supernatural phenomena through science while dealing with personal trauma related to a childhood fire. The plot explores the tension between medical logic and mystical beliefs as mysterious deaths occur at Rotua Hospital.

The film features a cast including Randy Pangalila, Alexandra Gottardo, Dwi Sasono, and Nasya Marcella. This project marks the feature film debut for Delapan Entertainment Studios, led by CEO and producer Rama Michael, who aims to develop local stories for international audiences.
