Begusarai woman assaulted and raped at hotel

A woman associated with a self-help group was brutally assaulted and raped at a hotel in the Begusarai district of Bihar on September 27. According to reports, an acquaintance lured the victim onto a motorcycle and took her to ‘Hotel Blue Diamond’ located near the National Highway in the Nagar police station area. There, she was handed over to an individual identified as Rohit Kumar from the Bhagwanpur police station area.

Inside a locked hotel room, the accused reportedly filmed the assault. Video footage shows the victim being beaten with footwear and kicked, as well as being dragged by her hair. Following the physical assault, the victim was raped at knifepoint. During the ordeal, the victim managed to lock herself in a bathroom and used her mobile phone to alert her family and share her location.

Her family arrived at the scene to rescue her, though the accused had already fled. The perpetrator subsequently circulated a video of the incident on social media. Following a formal complaint filed at the Nagar police station on September 28, authorities have registered a case under several serious sections and are conducting raids to apprehend the suspect.
