Beihan opens first specialized honey market in Shabwah

The Ridan Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Society has inaugurated the first specialized market for bees and beekeepers in the Beihan district of Shabwah Governorate. This market is the first of its kind in the district and the wider governorate.

The initiative aims to support local beekeepers, promote the quality of Beihan honey, and create new opportunities for youth working in the sector. During the opening, officials noted that approximately 250 beehives were sold prior to the official ceremony, indicating high demand.

Local officials highlighted that the districts of Beihan, Ayn, Harib, and Usaylan contain roughly 40% of the Sidr trees in Yemen, providing a significant natural resource for high-quality honey production. The market is intended to be the first step in a series of upcoming projects by the cooperative to develop the local agricultural economy.
