Beijing implements strict drone ownership and storage bans

New regulations in Beijing, set to take effect on November 15, will strictly prohibit the possession, storage, and transportation of drones and their core components within the city's administrative area. While exceptions exist for disaster response, education, research, and production, general hobbyists face significant restrictions.

To comply with the new rules, residents are being encouraged to dispose of their devices through several government-sanctioned methods. Options include selling units to designated companies, participating in waste recycling programs, or shipping them out of the city via EMS.

The city is offering subsidies to facilitate this transition. For sales made between September 12 and October 31, the government provides a subsidy of 30% of the transaction price, capped at 3,000 yuan per unit. This subsidy decreases to 15% (capped at 1,500 yuan) for sales occurring between November 1 and November 14. Recycling programs also offer small subsidies, while EMS shipping costs are waived for verified units being sent out of the city.
