Automakers accelerate EV and smart driving rollouts in China and US

The global automotive industry is seeing significant shifts in electric vehicle (EV) strategies and product launches, particularly in the Chinese market. BMW has reached a milestone of two million fully electric vehicles delivered, with the new iX3 playing a key role in its European growth. However, BMW is also tailoring specific models for China, such as a longer-wheelbase iX3 that features localized software integrated with Alibaba and DeepSeek AI, and offers significantly lower pricing compared to European markets.

In China, several manufacturers are launching new models focused on smart technology and specialized segments. FAW Toyota has introduced its IT’S TiME 4.0 technology brand with the 2027 bZ5, emphasizing quality and long-term value. ARCFOX reported strong initial demand for its Alpha T7 SUV, which secured over 10,000 orders within two hours of pre-sale, featuring Huawei’s intelligent driving systems. Beijing Off-Road has also entered the luxury smart SUV market with the Taitan 700, which integrates Huawei ADS 5 technology and targets off-road enthusiasts with high-tech features.

In the United States, BMW is preparing to open orders for the electric i3 in late 2026, aiming for a high-range, high-performance sedan to expand its EV lineup.
