Beijing to host high-risk robotics championship in October

A robotics championship featuring humanoid and quadrupedal robots is scheduled to take place in Beijing this October. The event aims to accelerate the development and implementation of robotics in real-world conditions.

Participants will compete in 14 types of obstacle challenges, including navigating steep slopes, broken bridges, and ruins. The competition is divided into six categories based on vehicle type—humanoid, quadrupedal, or wheeled—and control method, which includes both remote and autonomous navigation.

Tasks are designed to simulate high-risk environments and emergency response scenarios, such as earthquake, flood, and fire relief. Humanoid robots will be tested on tasks like opening doors, deactivating explosive devices, closing valves, and extinguishing fires. Other machines will perform tunnel inspections, power restoration, and cargo delivery. Currently, 24 teams have registered for the competition. To assist in preparation, organizers have launched the ‘BotVorld’ training platform.
