Beijing Vice Mayor Xia Linmao placed under investigation
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision announced on October 22 that Xia Linmao, a member of the Beijing Municipal Standing Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, is under investigation for suspected "serious violations of discipline and law."
Xia, who has held various leadership roles in Beijing including serving as Party Secretary of Miyun and Dongcheng districts, rose through the ranks during Cai Qi’s tenure as Beijing Party Secretary. Reports suggest his investigation may involve connections to Huawei procurement processes and political figures, though official statements have not confirmed specific links to third parties or family members of high-ranking officials.
This development occurs shortly before the upcoming Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, where major strategic documents regarding party governance are expected to be addressed.
