Beijing woman reunited with family after 26 years of trafficking

Sun Meihua, a woman from Beijing, has been reunited with her family after being trafficked to Cao County in Shandong province 26 years ago. With the assistance of online volunteers and DNA testing, Sun was able to reconnect with her brother, who traveled to Shandong to bring her back to Beijing.

Reports indicate that Sun suffered significant physical and mental hardship during her decades in Cao County, where she lived under the control of an older man. Despite her deteriorating mental state, she reportedly maintained fragments of her identity, including her name and family details.

While the reunion has gained significant attention on international social media platforms, observers have noted a lack of coverage from mainland Chinese media and the suppression of related discussions on domestic platforms like Weibo.
