Beşiktaş to petition UEFA to host Hapoel Be'er Sheva match in Istanbul
Beşiktaş Football Director Önder Özen announced that the club will submit an application to UEFA to host their Europa League match against Israel's Hapoel Be'er Sheva in Istanbul. The club aims to secure home-field advantage, noting that previous Turkish teams have often been forced to play Israeli opponents at neutral venues due to security concerns.
Özen also highlighted potential logistical difficulties regarding the away match against Omonia in Cyprus. He noted that because Turkish teams cannot travel directly to Cyprus, the team may have to travel via Athens, adding complexity to the fixture.
Following the Europa League draw, Beşiktaş's opponents were confirmed as Bayer Leverkusen, Marseille, Union SG, Celtic, Crystal Palace, Omonia, Hapoel Be'er Sheva, and Hoffenheim. Özen stated that the club's goal is to secure at least 10 points during the league stage to ensure progression.
