Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı outlines club restructuring and transfer plans
Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı has outlined the club’s strategic vision, focusing on squad restructuring, financial discipline, and championship ambitions. Adalı noted that the club has undergone a massive transformation, parting ways with nearly 30 players over 1.5 years to build a new squad under manager Vincenzo Italiano. He emphasized that while the team needs time to achieve full cohesion, the ultimate goal remains winning the Süper Lig.
Regarding transfers, Adalı confirmed that the club aims to finalize key moves during the mid-season window. A primary target is Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock, a player specifically requested by Italiano. Adalı revealed that negotiations for Willock have been intensive, including efforts to settle his family in Istanbul, though Newcastle previously requested £20 million for the player.
On administrative and logistical matters, Adalı announced that Beşiktaş will host its UEFA Europa League match against Hapoel Beer-Sheva in Batum, Georgia, with spectators present, following UEFA's security-based decision to move the game from Istanbul. He also addressed the need for justice in Turkish football, suggesting that the club supports the possibility of foreign leadership within the Central Referee Committee to improve officiating standards.
