Being Heumann biopic teaser and release date announced

Apple Original Films has released the teaser trailer and key art for ‘Being Heumann’, a biographical film centered on Judy Heumann, a prominent figure in the disability rights movement. Directed by Academy Award winner Siân Heder, the film is based on true events regarding a 1977 occupation of a federal building.

The story follows a coalition of activists, including a young disabled woman played by Ruth Madeley, who led a 28-day protest at the San Francisco Federal Building. The demonstration sought to enforce Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to ensure accessibility in federal spaces. The cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Dylan O’Brien, and Ray Fisher.

‘Being Heumann’ is scheduled for a select theatrical release on November 6, 2026, followed by a global premiere on Apple TV on November 13, 2026. The film will also serve as the opening feature for the Toronto International Film Festival.
