Being Heumann trailer released for Judy Heumann biopic

Apple TV has released the first teaser trailer for “Being Heumann,” a drama directed by Siân Heder that depicts the true story of disability rights activist Judy Heumann. Starring Ruth Madeley as Heumann and Mark Ruffalo as U.S. Health Secretary Joseph Califano, the film focuses on the historic 1977 occupation of a federal building. This protest, known as the 504 sit-in, lasted four weeks and was a critical precursor to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Production for the film involved significant logistical challenges, as the crew worked to create an inclusive environment for a cast composed of disabled performers. Director Siân Heder noted the complexities of accommodating diverse physical needs within the intense schedules of film production. The film is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in the United States on November 6, 2026, followed by a global streaming release on Apple TV on November 13, 2026.
