Beşiri hosts 4th Danuk and Pistachio Festival in Batman

The 4th Beşiri Danuk and Pistachio Festival was held in the Beşiri district of Batman, organized by the Beşiri Municipality and the District Governor's Office with support from the Governor's Office, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, and the Provincial Special Administration.

During the event, Governor Ekrem Canalp highlighted Batman's position as the fifth-largest pistachio producer in Turkey. He noted that while current plantings are yielding at a 20% rate, production is expected to grow significantly as new areas mature.

Governor Canalp also announced a major project involving a 460-decare fruit sapling nursery, which he described as the largest public fruit sapling nursery in Turkey. Pistachio saplings produced at this center will be distributed to producers free of charge. Additionally, he stated that future efforts will focus on increasing value-added production by processing pistachios at the Oymataş Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) rather than selling them in bulk.
