Beja inaugurates new Palácio da Justiça

The new Palácio da Justiça in Beja has officially opened, centralizing judicial services that were previously dispersed across various locations in the city. The project, which took approximately ten years to complete, aims to address space limitations and improve working conditions for legal professionals and service for citizens.

The 3,562-square-meter facility spans three floors and includes seven hearing rooms, two videoconferencing rooms, 27 offices, archives, and specialized areas for witnesses and children. The building is designed to house several judicial structures, including Civil and Criminal Courts, the Public Ministry, and an autonomous Administrative and Tax Court.

Investment figures for the project are reported between €5.7 million and €6.95 million, excluding VAT. The inauguration ceremony included high-level officials such as Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and Minister of Justice Rita Alarcão Júdice. While the building is operational, the full transfer of all services from temporary locations, such as container units, is expected to be completed gradually.
