Bekasi robbery gang arrested after targeting bank customers

Police from Polda Metro Jaya have arrested six members of a robbery gang responsible for targeting bank customers in the Bekasi and Jakarta areas. The group utilized a structured method where one member would observe targets withdrawing large sums of money, relaying information to accomplices who would then follow the victims on motorcycles to secluded locations.

In their most recent attack in the Cibitung area of Bekasi Regency, the gang stole Rp30 million and injured the victim with a sharp weapon. During the arrests, two suspects were met with firm police action after attempting to resist officers. The suspects admitted to carrying out similar robberies on three separate occasions across Bekasi Regency, Bekasi City, and East Jakarta.

Authorities seized several pieces of evidence, including four motorcycles used in the crimes, two motorcycles believed to be stolen, and various sharp weapons. The suspects face charges under Article 479, Paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
