Bekim Sali advocates for tangible EU integration benefits in Vienna
Bekim Sali, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs of North Macedonia, participated in the Western Balkans Conference in Vienna. Invited by Austrian Minister Claudia Bauer, Sali emphasized that the European Union enlargement process must provide tangible benefits to citizens even before full membership is achieved.
Sali highlighted the need for increased opportunities for youth, specifically in education, professional training, internships, scientific research, and exchanges with European partners. He stated that for young people, a European future should mean real opportunities to learn and develop within their own country.
To facilitate gradual integration, Sali pointed to trade facilitation through Green Corridors, participation in SEPA, and digital cooperation as concrete examples of benefits for citizens and businesses. He maintained that North Macedonia remains fully committed to reforms and EU membership, calling for an enlargement process that is fair, predictable, and based on objective European criteria and the rule of law.
