Yusuf Beyazıt replaces Bekir Bozdağ as TBMM Deputy Speaker

Bekir Bozdağ, the AK Party Şanlıurfa Deputy Member of Parliament, has resigned from his position as Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) due to health concerns. Bozdağ, who has held the role since 2023 and previously served as Minister of Justice, submitted his resignation to the TBMM Presidency on October 6, 2026.

Yusuf Beyazıt, the AK Party Tokat Deputy Member of Parliament, has been appointed to succeed Bozdağ. The appointment was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Beyazıt, a former official within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and a former Chairman of the Constitutional Commission, officially took over the duties following a handover ceremony at the Parliament.

During the ceremony, Bozdağ expressed confidence in Beyazıt’s ability to manage the Assembly effectively, while Beyazıt described Bozdağ as a “role model” in his political career.
