Beklan Algan commemorated on 16th anniversary of death

A ceremony was held at Aşiyan Cemetery to commemorate Beklan Algan, a prominent actor, writer, instructor, and director for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) City Theatres, on the 16th anniversary of his death.

The event was attended by Algan’s daughter, Sevi Algan, along with his colleagues and former students. During the ceremony, Sevi Algan shared memories of her father’s artistic identity and discussed the Theatre Research Laboratory (TAL), whose archives have been transferred to Kadir Has University.

Born in Erzurum in 1933, Algan studied stagecraft in New York before returning to Turkey in 1960 to join the City Theatres. His career included directing at the Berlin Schaubühne Theatre and founding the BİLSAK Theatre Workshop. He also appeared in several films, including ‘Karanlıkta Uyananlar’ and ‘Kız Kulesi Aşıkları’.
