Beko workers announce strike at Melano plant over offshoring fears

Workers at the Beko Melano plant in Fabriano have announced a strike and a state of agitation scheduled for September 8. The protest is being led by the RSU unions, including Fim, Fiom, and Uilm.

Union representatives claim that production volumes have plummeted, describing the current situation at the plant as “dramatic.” They specifically questioned the disappearance of induction cooktop production, which previously required night shifts to meet high demand. The unions expressed suspicion regarding potential offshoring to Turkey or China, noting that while Beko-branded products remain visible in retail stores, they are no longer being manufactured at the Melano facility.

Beko has categorically denied any plans to relocate production to Turkey or China. The company attributes the current production halt and reduced volumes to a lack of orders and broader difficulties within the European market.
