Beko workers strike in Melano over production cuts
Workers at the Beko plant in Melano have launched a strike to protest a sharp decline in production and the failure to fulfill previous agreements. Protesters and local officials are demanding that the company honor the April 2025 agreements signed at the Ministry of Enterprises, Italy and Development (MIMIT).
Demonstrators claim that promised investments of 62 million euros have not materialized, leading to production contraction and layoffs. Employees currently on redundancy schemes are also facing significant wage cuts.
Fabriano Mayor Daniela Ghergo and PD Secretary Elly Schlein joined the picket line to support the workforce. Schlein accused the multinational corporation of exploiting local territories and failing to meet its commitments, particularly after receiving public support. Regional officials also attended the protest, expressing solidarity with the workers and calling for the protection of the local industrial district.
