Belarus accused of supporting Russian drone attacks and border provocations
Belarus is reportedly providing technical support to Russia during its invasion of Ukraine by allowing signal repeaters to operate from its territory. According to Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, these repeaters assist Russian drones in targeting Ukrainian territory. While no immediate redeployment of Russian or Belarusian infantry units toward the Ukrainian border has been detected, Demchenko noted that Belarus continues to facilitate aerial attacks through this coordination.
Simultaneously, tensions have escalated along the Latvian-Belarusian border. Reports indicate armed individuals affiliated with Belarusian authorities have aggressively confronted Latvian soldiers. In response to these provocations, Latvian defense officials are planning to increase troop deployments and enhance surveillance to bolster border security and deter further aggression.
