Belarus accuses Ukraine of deliberate drone strike on Belarusian truck
Belarus has summoned Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires in Minsk following a Ukrainian drone attack on a truck with Belarusian license plates in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast on October 8. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the attack was likely deliberate, noting that the vehicle’s national markings were clearly identifiable. The incident resulted in severe injuries to a Belarusian woman, who required emergency surgery and limb amputations.
Belarusian spokesperson Ruslan Varankov warned Ukraine against further provocations and stated that Minsk reserves the right to take “appropriate response measures.”
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected the accusations, calling them “groundless” and “absurd.” Ukrainian spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi stated that responsibility cannot be assigned without convincing evidence and accused Belarus of attempting to weaponize the incident to increase regional instability while acting as an accomplice to Russian aggression.
