Belarus issues travel warnings for six European nations
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised its citizens to refrain from non-essential travel to France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Albania. The warning follows reports of widespread protests, civil unrest, and a “significant deterioration of the domestic political situation” in these countries.
The Ministry cited concerns regarding the involvement of radical groups, reports of disproportionate police force, and arbitrary arrests. In certain regions of France, authorities have reportedly implemented curfews. The ministry warned that the situation could escalate, potentially leading to states of emergency, restrictions on public transport, or internet and information service shutdowns.
Belarusian citizens are encouraged to postpone or cancel trips if they are not urgent. In the event of further escalation, the ministry recommends departing these countries via available commercial transport. The advisory also noted potential limitations in consular support and urged citizens to save emergency contact information for Belarusian diplomatic missions abroad.
